Monday-

Warm Up- Type 3 Writing (FCAs- Complete Sentences and Using Capital Letters)- What are some examples of Natural Disasters? What kind of destruction can natural disasters cause?

Whole Group (Guided Practice)- Explain Hurricane Katrina research project (done with a partner, each group has “before”, “during”, or “after” the hurricane)

Small Group (Independent Practice)- Hurricane Katrina book/article research

Computer Group- Hurricane Katrina internet research

Independent Reading Group- SRI Testing

 

Objective/ Learner Outcome: I CAN research specific questions on the internet and in articles about Hurricane Katrina.

 

Tuesday-

Warm Up- Circle the letters that need to be capitalized.

Whole Group (Guided Practice)- Review expectations of research project about Hurricane Katrina

Small Group (Independent Practice)- Hurricane Katrina book/article research and start poster

Computer Group- Hurricane Katrina internet research

Independent Reading Group- SRI Testing

 

Objective/ Learner Outcome: I CAN create a poster with my partner about the questions I answered about Hurricane Katrina.

 

Wednesday-

Warm Up- Comprehension questions about a hurricane article

Whole Group (Guided Practice)- Page 46 (Narrative Paragraph)

Small Group (Independent Practice)- Finish Posters about Hurricane Katrina

Computer Group-Finish Posters about Hurricane Katrina  Independent Reading Group- SRI Testing

Thursday-

Warm Up- Write  complete sentences using specific words about natural disasters.

Whole Group (Guided Practice)- Present Hurricane Katrina Posters to class with partner/ Explain Page 47-48

Small Group (Independent Practice)- Page 47-48, Brainstorm/ Plan a Paragraph- “Tell about a time when you experienced severe weather.”

Computer Group- Read 180 Software

Independent Reading Group- Reading & Reading Logs

 

Objective/ Learner Outcome: I CAN brainstorm ideas for writing using a graphic organizer.

 

Friday-

Warm Up- Weather puzzle

Whole Group (Guided Practice)- FINISH ALL SRI TESTING
